This custom challenge coin was created for the Second Class Petty Officers Association aboard AS-40, combining traditional naval symbolism with a clean, professional design focused on pride, leadership, and accountability. The coin features a polished black metal finish with white enamel accents and raised detailing, creating a sharp high-contrast appearance that reflects both heritage and professionalism. The front side prominently displays the title “SECOND CLASS PETTY OFFICERS ASSOCIATION”. At the center is a detailed raised eagle paired with the iconic red Second Class Petty Officer chevrons, symbolizing leadership, responsibility, and the backbone role second class petty officers hold within the command. The rope-style border adds a classic naval touch while reinforcing the maritime identity of the design. The reverse side transforms the coin into a stylized clock face featuring the phrase “Every Second Counts.” Incorporated into the clock design is a detailed image of AS40, tying the concept of time, readiness, and responsibility directly back to the association and shipboard mission. The clock markings and clean white background create a sleek, modern look while emphasizing the message that every action and every second matter in leadership and operational performance. This coin serves as both a commemorative and motivational piece, representing the professionalism, accountability, and teamwork expected of second class petty officers. Its balanced design, meaningful symbolism, and polished finish make it ideal for association members, leadership recognition, command presentations, and deployment keepsakes.
